Jones, great-grandfather of Hal Wilson, consigner of the painting to Preservation Long Island; Two ships in the distance behind the sloop, the coastline visible in the background is lightly wooded and painted brushily with green and grey pigment. Clouded sky fills upper two thirds of the painting above the horizon line. Frame and backing are original to the artwork.
