Description
Watercolor on brown paper with gouache, ink, and lead pencil. Foreground contains several roughly sketched figures, man leading horse and cart to the left, three people walking to the left of center, one man driving a two-horse cart from the center towards the right, one man riding a horse from the right towards the center, piles of wood stacked to far right. Midground on far right shows train pulling into or leaving the station partially obscured by station outbuilding with platform, station house to its left and further down the tracks, figure loading bags onto two-horse station wagon with driver, two figures standing on platform near tracks, split rail fences to far left contain field and two trees. Two-and-a-half story structure to the left of center in the background labeled "A.D. Smith. Store.", three figures standing near porch, one carriage house to the store's left and one outbuilding to its right (outbuildings in background only finished in pencil); sky above is minimally painted with some grey watercolor and highlighted areas of white gouache.
