Midground shows the town below to the center and right, clustered buildings nearly on top of one another with a river running towards the horizon line on the far left side, two bridges spanning the waterway; to far left midground two figures walk along a path curving into a group of trees, Heidelberg Castle rises above behind them. Background to far right and left shows tall hills or small mountains, view extends to the horizon line at center right, following the course of the winding river into the background; sky above painted a light blue with white clouds.
