Watercolor on beige paper depicting the homestead of Charles Cheshire. Foreground shows wide dirt road running parallel to the bottom of the artwork; two-horse cart with single driver traveling to the left, carrying twobarrels; road is bounded on the far side by white split rail fence on the left and white picket fence on the right. Midground includes small cluster of saplings planted in a row on far left, subdivided by more split rail fencing; grey barn to the right, two single trees in front, one outbuilding behind and unknown structure to immediate left; story-and-a-half white house with green shutters, two chimneys, one stovepipe, located to the right of the barn, surrounded by white picket fence, small saplings planted in front yard; water pump to the left side of the front yard, outbuilding behind the house; grassy fields to the far right of the house. Horizon line immediately above midground, fields and fencing fade to brushy treeline; sky with several white clouds. Frame and backing likely original.
