Midground shows fields beyond the fence bordering the dirt road, to left and center are the main residence of the picture with barns and outbuildings to its right; to the far right side on the other side of the road an additional white, two-and-a-half story residence depicted. Background dotted with trees and additional structures, poor quality of the albumen print obscures the finer details of the background. Portions of the albumen print have been partially colored in with red, white, green, brown , and yellow pigment. Labeled below, "View near St. James. Suffolk Co. N.York.".
